Fleet technology is entering its intelligence era
Fleet technology is entering its intelligence era. Platforms are competing to become the intelligence layer above the whole fleet operation.

For years, the fleet technology industry was built around a relatively simple proposition: connect a vehicle and show an operator what it is doing.
That model is changing rapidly.
The largest fleet technology businesses are no longer competing simply on tracking, cameras or telematics.
They are competing to become the intelligence layer sitting above the entire fleet operation.
During August we saw further evidence of that transition.
Geotab introduced a new predictive intelligence layer designed to identify potential vehicle faults, driver risks and operational problems before they become disruptive.
Samsara expanded further into fuel, navigation, incident management and operational workflows.
Motive launched a maintenance product as it continues broadening its integrated operations platform.
ABAX brought AI video telematics into its UK fleet platform.
Meanwhile, autonomous freight company Gatik raised another $200 million.
Collectively, they tell us something much more important. The fleet technology market is converging.
Telematics companies are becoming safety companies. Safety companies are becoming AI companies. Camera companies are becoming fleet-management platforms. Fleet-management platforms are moving into maintenance.
The question is no longer what does your platform monitor? It is becoming: what can your platform understand, predict and ultimately do?
