Fleets say maintenance data matters, but many still are not using it
ATRI research found that 48% of surveyed fleets did not integrate telematics with maintenance management software.
New research from the American Transportation Research Institute has identified a striking gap between the value fleets place on maintenance data and how widely they actually use it.
Among 111 fleets surveyed, 48% did not integrate telematics with maintenance management software.
Another 43% did.
A further 10% used their telematics or fleet management platform itself for maintenance management.
Preventive maintenance scheduling scored highly for importance, but adoption of maintenance related telematics remained behind safety and operational applications.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This gap is important.
- Vehicles are already producing diagnostic information.
- Telematics platforms already collect huge volumes of vehicle data.
- Maintenance systems already know servicing history.
- AI can increasingly identify patterns across both.
- Yet almost half of surveyed fleets still do not connect these systems.
- Predictive maintenance therefore remains one of the largest underdeveloped opportunities in connected fleet technology.
