Samsara keeps expanding beyond telematics
Samsara's Fuel Command Center is less about fuel than about owning the central operating interface used by fleet managers.
Samsara launched its new Fuel Command Center in August.
The product combines fuel expenditure, driver behaviour, routing and fuel-card controls.
But the more interesting story isn't fuel. It's Samsara's continued expansion across the fleet operation.
The company also announced improvements across commercial navigation, incident management, maintenance and custom operational dashboards.
The major platforms increasingly want to own the central operating interface used by fleet managers.
OLD MODEL VERSUS NEW MODEL
The old model was a fleet tracking system, a camera system, a maintenance system, a fuel system, a compliance system and a routing system. The new model is one operating platform. This creates an uncomfortable question for specialists: if the customer's primary telematics platform can provide 80% of the functionality of five separate systems, how valuable is the remaining 20%?
