Another major autonomous-freight development arrived this week.

PlusAI has agreed to go public through a merger with Texas Ventures Acquisition III Corp.

The transaction values the autonomous-trucking software company at approximately $800 million pre-money.

This comes only days after Gatik announced the $200 million funding round we covered in Issue 1.

Two weeks.

Two significant autonomous-trucking capital events.

COINCIDENCE?

Probably not. Autonomous trucking appears to be entering a different phase. The industry spent years demonstrating that autonomous trucks could drive. Investors increasingly want to know whether they can operate commercially. That means the focus moves towards: Cost per mile. Safety performance. Route density. Vehicle utilisation. Insurance. Maintenance. Regulatory approval. And ultimately return on capital.
